The main function of a writer is to write.
Generation of new product is essential to move forward, to have followers, to become known.
We, as mostly Indie, must learn all facets of making a book into a product that sells.
A promotion tool that is simple to use, but daunting to the novice is twitter. We were discussing taking the first plunge. One of The Booktrap authors has a simple explanation but first we have to talk a fearful newbie to twitter, 'off the ledge'·
Margaret Eleanor Leigh I am going to have another attempt at setting up a dreaded twitter account today...·
Paula Shene Margaret, just fill in the blanks and leave it. ·
Margaret Eleanor Leigh Okay, I am now officially a Twit, and happy to follow anyone who wants to be followed...·
Paula Shene What’s your handle? Your name? Better yet, a link would be great, especially for us twit-less.·

Lela Markham Margaret, you sound like me when I first went to Twitter. WAY too fast moving for me! I sent you a follow, so you're not tweeting into the void any longer.·
Margaret Eleanor Leigh Thanks Lela, I'll re-follow you, if that is what one does, next time I go on - tomorrow probably - (and Paula too).
Now, here is that timely advice from Lela Markham:
·
Lela Markham You are looking to see if the people you want to follow actually retweet their followers. Follow those people. You should be able to select about 6-10 people in ten minutes. Then get off. Twitter is not worth spending all day on. Go back the next day and respond to anyone who has followed you or retweeted anything you posted. My Word Press account is linked, so I don't actually have to compose tweets. When you thank people for retweeting, make sure to include your signature because that acts as a second flag out in the twitter-verse. And, now I've talked about Twitter as much as I want to for at least a week!
